Feds want Internet Ratings System
The government has made it mandatory that CDs with explicit lyrics have a sticker that tells you that this CD may be too much for youngsters, and now the same will be with web sites if the Bush adminstration and Attorney General Gonzales get their way.
Proposed is a system in which websites that feature sexually explicit content will have to display official government lables warning potential visitors that the site contains explicit content. The punishment for not following the rules? Potentially, incarceration for five years.
Under the proposed legislation ISPs will also be required to keep more information about users and keep information that may be valuable in forming a criminal prosecution.
