WAV Definition

The WAV file is the Microsoft standard file format for audio. While WAV files can be compressed with a multitude of compression schemes, a WAV file is most often left in uncompressed. When a WAV file is uncompressed it is supposed to have a superior quality to compressed formats such as MP3.
