One of the best parts about Firefox is the extensions interface which allows you to add much more functionality to the browser, and tailor the browser to your needs. Here are a few of the best Firefox add-ons.
1. Forecastfox
Ever wondered what the weather forecast is, but you don't want to surf to a web page just to see it? Forecastfox gives you all the information you need in the corner of your screen. Just move your mouse over the forecast for even more detail. The feed is from Accuweather.com.
2. Google Toolbar
The latest version of Google Toolbar for Firefox has several truly useful features such as a form spell checker, and very quick access to Google search. The spell checker works well and is placed perfectly for easy access. Google Toolbar also has a point and click translator that will translate any word you click into your language. The auto-fill feature is also useful for filling out commonly used forms.
3. Web Developer Toolbar
Well, this is only useful if you make websites, but I will put it in here anyways because I think it's awesome. With this toolbar you can disable certain elements of the web page to see how it looks, and you can set Firefox to view the page in many different ways. If you have no interest in coding web sites, you can defiantly skip this one.
4. IE View
Some pages don't load properly in Firefox and are designed to only be used with Internet Explorer. Does that mean you have to give up Firefox to view this site? Nope. Just use IE View to see the site just as you would in Internet Explorer. While sites that only work on Internet Explorer are becoming far less common there are still some that choose to be difficult, and this extension is still useful.
5. FoxyTunes Want to control your music while surfing? FoxyTunes is right up your alley. FoxyTunes allows you to control most media players from a toolbar in Firefox. Test it out, it's more useful than it sounds.
There are far more extensions that you can use to customize Firefox even further. Those are just extensions that I like to use. Try them all out. Go to http://addons.mozilla.org for hundreds, maybe thousands, of extensions that do just about everything.
