Automatically End Non Responsive Tasks

Current Location: PC Self Help / Windows Tips / Performance / Automatically End Non-Responsive Tasks

If you are tired of clicking End task now every time a program crashes, you can set Windows to automatically end non-responsive tasks.

1. Start Regedit by going to your Start Menu and then clicking Run. Type in Regedit and then click Ok.

Remember that editing your registry can be dangerous to your computer's stability. Editing the wrong keys can lead to the computer being unable to boot. Backup your registry and edit carefully.

2. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\

3. Set the value of AutoEndTasks to 0

4. Change the value of WaitToKillAppTimeout to the number of milliseconds you want to wait for Windows to end the non-responsive task.
