Clean The System Tray

Are those 15 system tray icons giving you grief? Do you suspect they may have slow down your computer a bit? Disable them and reclaim your taskbar.

For most system tray icons you just need to right click on them and then choose something like Disable program. Others are a little more difficult and we will go into some detail on how to make those icons go away.

Clock
To make the clock go away all you need to do is right click on any blank space on the taskbar and choose Properties. Then uncheck Show the clock.

Network Status
Click on the icon and the the Properties button. Now uncheck Show icon in notification area when connected.

QuickTime
Right click and then choose QuickTime Preferences. Now choose Browser Plugin from the drop drown list, and now uncheck QuickTime system tray icon.

WildTangent Driver
Click on the icon and choose Recent Messages and then Welcome to GameChannel. Click on the Options tab, and then uncheck Keep icon in system tray.

Windows Messenger
Right click on the icon and choose Open and then Tools and then Options. Choose the Preferences tab and uncheck Run this program when Windows starts.
